What salary you can expect
Please be realistic about your expectations. Do consider your experience and qualification and also your flexibility. Nannies with less than 2 years of full time sole charge NANNY experience cannot expect to be paid the going rate for nannies, neither can those who have only aupair, mother's help, or experience from their own family, or even those you have not had a references for. Also, do invest into having a first aid certificate and CRB check, as those are the essentials for a nanny career, and also childcare qualification is very helpful, as it shows your genuine interest in this kind of job.
Do bear in mind, that the competition in London is huge, and the families are looking for the best for their children, therefore the more you are willing to give, the better your chance to get a good position that will make you happy.
So the most successful, well paid nannies have:
- Genuine interest in childcare ( shown on your CV – history in childcare, studies )
- Positive can do attitude, nice personality, flexibility
- CRB check and First aid certificate and also registration or willingness to register with Ofsted
- Ability to speak fluent English
- Other spoken languages like French, Spanish and Italian are very helpful
- Ability to educate the children, maintain their good manners, keep them busy,happy and socialized
- Understanding of a nanny as a professional career
How much do nannies earn currently in London:
