WOW Do's and Dont's for Nannies
- Always try to arrive at least 5 minutes before time to start
- Be well presented and dress appropriately
- Always be honest and open with the family
- Be happy in your job
- No personal mobile calls while in charge of children
- Don't drink hot drinks while children are around
- Don't drink or eat whilst pushing a pram on a busy street
- Communicate with the parents – use diaries, inform them not only about your plans for the children, but of any accidents, signs of illness, behavioural problems, and also achievements and generally about their children lives ( especially when both parents work full time )
- It is essential that you know what the parents expect from you and how they would like their children to be brought up. If there is anything you do not agree with or do not understand please DO talk about it with the parents rather then just doing your thing and confusing the children
- Do not act like you are the one who knows the best, you need to understand that the parents are still the parents and you can only offer your advice, if required
Please do communicate with the parents regularly and also try to find out the most about the job required from you before accepting the offer to avoid any misunderstanding and disappointment on both sides.
It is essential that you are happy in your job, because :
HAPPY NANNY = HAPPY CHILDREN = HAPPY PARENTS
